Environment

If nothing else

It makes Australia a nicer place to live

Climate Action

I don’t think I need to appeal to the environmentalists on this one.

I hope to leave the world a better place.

As the world gets hotter, life will get harder.

There will be more desperation globally.

Australia is very connected to the rest of the world.

The pandemic and war in Ukraine has shown us that.

Economically there are lots of opportunities here.

Australia was a leader in solar power technology and we missed that boat.
Then we had some of the world’s leading battery scientists, kinda missed that one too.

If we keep doing what we are doing, the crash when mining exports stop, or even slow will be devastating.

We are harming our relationship with low lying pacific nations.

What is essentially a life style choice for us, is a literal threat to their homes.

If we can’t defend them from that, they will look elsewhere for defense.

Packaging and Recycling

Once again I will talk to the people who aren’t already on board.

When I was 19 in Germany, I bought some beer.

(This might not be a surprise)

It came in a plastic crate and when you returned it and the bottles, you got some money back - It made it far cheaper.

This was more than a decade ago.

I just can’t see how making new glass is the better option.

I hope to promote the reuse of packaging that can be reused (like in Germany), the standardisation of recycling nation wide as well as rules surrounding single use plastics.

Dealing with Disaster

Fire and flood have been a part of Australian life for generations, but they are getting more frequent and devastating.

If the worst happens to you and your community, you need to know that your government is there for you.

To either help with the rebuild or if you decide it’s all too hard and that you are going to move.

You should be supported in that too.
